Since 1922, Means Industries Inc., one of the Amsted Industries, has partnered with OEM engineers to produce pioneering propulsion solutions. Means started selling parts to the "Big 3" North American OEMs in 1961 and the first mechanical diode was shipped in 1997. In 1999, Means Transform Products launched the first roller die spline technology in North America and Means started shipping globally in 2007.

Known for customer service, rigorous design and quality products, Means has demonstrated industry leadership by introducing new technologies like Roller In-Die Spline Forming, and our Mechanical Diode and Controllable Mechanical Diode One-Way Clutch technologies.

Means also develops award-winning, transformational propulsion-system technologies through innovative design and collaboration with global OEMs in long-standing, open partnerships to collectively tackle key issues. Using in-house product design, process design and decades of experience, Means delivers on challenging regulations and performance requirements.

Our manufacturing capabilities include highly complex propulsion systems and advanced Metal-Forming and Joining. Looking to the future, our emerging Electrically Actuated Dynamic Clutch technologies will serve as the new building blocks for efficient Propulsion Electrification.

Means is helping OEMs address the challenges associated with propulsion electrification and fuel economy targets through development of technologies such as:

• Advanced Metal Forming Hoop-Band Process
• Welded Assemblies
• Aluminum Flow-Forming Processes
• Integrated Shifting Systems
